An attorney, policy professional, and consultant, Robert Bacon combines his management and executive experience, legal background, political and business acumen, and ability to galvanize synergies across organizations to offer sound solutions and personalized service to AbstoneLalley’s legal clients. Mr. Bacon also consults with North American law firms on expansion into the South America market. Robert’s interdisciplinary experience provides him with deep knowledge of the legal market, in terms of both the profession itself and the changing business landscape affecting it.


Robert Bacon joins AbstoneLalley from Booz Allen Hamilton, where he provided strategic counsel to federal clients on matters ranging from organizational efficiency to partnership development. Prior to Booz Allen, Robert served as Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, providing strategic vision to government and business leaders - both in Washington and foreign capitals - on global entrepreneurship and its inclusive promotion.


While at the State Department, Robert was also instrumental in building key external relationships and partnerships in support of conflict prevention initiatives and stabilization. He led outreach to Congress, the international business community, and foreign government partners, especially Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. Further, Robert advised Department leadership on the design and execution of specialized legislative strategies and led private sector outreach efforts across a range of sectors and markets, both established and emerging.


Earlier in his career, Robert served as Legislative Counsel to Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, where he managed matters ranging from foreign policy, economics, financial services, and trade to jurisprudence, budget, and appropriations. Prior to public service, Robert drove business and legal growth at Discovery Communications, focusing on contractual rights and media market expansion.


Prior to matriculating at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Robert worked in External Relations at the American Chamber of Commerce in Brussels and later as an inside consultant to a Martigny, Switzerland-based firm, managing its global non-profit initiatives. Robert completed his undergraduate work at Kent State University (BA, cum laude: Spanish/international relations) and speaks English (native), Spanish, and French. He lives in Washington, DC.
